Perfect drill for DIYers Apr 22, 2011
By Flower Child

This is the perfect drill for DIYers. It has power deluxe and comes with two batteries. Drain one on an all day project and you have another one in reserve. It has 32 torque settings so you can micromanage the power needed for whatever project you're working on. I discovered this the hard way. I was attaching flashing to a shed I was renovating. I had the drill set to full torque power and the screw went through the flashing and embedded in the wooden side of the shed! With the hammer drill setting you can drill into concrete or brick to your heart's delight. It has two speed settings and a keyless chuck made out of steel. The only drawback I can think of is that after you've drained the power in one of the batteries it will be hot. You have to wait an hour or two for it to cool before you can recharge it. This has not been a problem for me because with two fully charged batteries you can work for hours and hours. By the time both batteries are drained I've raised my white flag and opened a beer anyway.

Down with DeWalt!!!!! Nov 29, 2011
By Jeff Higdon I used to be a diehard DeWalt fan, until I started replacing batteries one after the other. I use my cordless drills for construction type work and I keep about six batteries ready to go at all times. I can just about buy 4 PC batteries and two chargers for what two DW batteries in their combo pack cost. And so far it seems like they last just as long as the DW batteries do. The drill is just as strong too. The DW is a better quality in terms of comfort but I've tried Craftsman (don't even go there, they're junk!!!) and PC can hang with DW no problem for less than half the price. I bought the 5-piece kit and then the hammerdrill kit and a 2-battery/charger combo and I've invested about as much as a DW hammerdrill kit would cost. The Craftsman kit didn't make it a year and gave me lots of problems, I've had the PC kit for about 3 years now and it's got a little wear on it but the batteries are still going and the tools have survived drops, rain, dirt, metal shavings, long hard service in hot weather. I have no need to try any other brand!!!

Porter Cable - Great Choice! Nov 03, 2011
By R. FRANCE I've been working with corded hammer drills for many years. I never thought for a minute that a cordless drill would have enough power and perform the way this product does. Porter-Cable has really impressed me and, as my cordless tools wear out, I've been replacing them with PC products. Great products at an affordable price.
